This Is Why I'm Here... 1

Dad seemed to be thinking about that, he wouldn't shake hands though. Instead he put his hand on Kyle's head and began to mess his hair around, like a noogie.

"Haha! Look how formal this boy is!" Dad let out a hardy laugh and then gave a hard pat to Kyle's back.

I was... shocked to say the least, but it was nice to receive that welcome. And that pat threw me into a small coughing fit. But I stood up straight afterward and looked at Rhema. I'm sure my hair was a wreck, but I didn't mind. She was the only one who did.

I could only giggle but I knew that had to be a shock to him seeing that my dad was completely carefree about things even though he did have a protective side.

At dinner we continued to talk.

"So you're name is Kylie right?" Dad asked.

>.> Kylie...?

"Ah... close enough." I said with a smile, taking a bite of food. Something told me I'd just be waisting time if I tried to correct him.

"What do you plan to do with your life? Because I won't let you have my little girl if you're going to be something like a zoo keeper or a burger flipper."

I wasn't sure what my expression looked like but I was certain that I looked a bit disturbed. Dad had weird names for jobs.

"I won't tolerate toilet scrubbers either."

I laughed... he was... pretty cool. >.>

"Ah, well... I think electrical engineering. I love math and circuits are really interesting to me." Aha... and now I was going to be weird... >.>

"Ahhh, so you like numbers... numbers are good." Dad seemed bored with his job choice even though it would make ten, or even a hundred times more than a 'toilet scrubber' or a 'burger flipper'.

"Daddy..."

"What? I'm just making conversation with your boyfriend here!"

I grinned to Rhema. "It's okay, I'm fine!" I had this suddenly huge urge to just... hug her and squeeze her tight. But I'd have to wait until we were alone for that. >.<

Well I could at least be glad that my family liked him, I still had to meet his parents though and I wasn't sure whether to feel okay or nervous.

Dinner went on and after we ate we sat down in the family room for some snacks and drinks.

I sat beside Rhema before anyone else got there so they couldn't object! I liked sitting by her. She made me happy. So very happy! "So maybe tomorrow, you can meet my parents?" I asked softly, leaning toward her ear.

I felt a chill roll up my spine, his breath tickled my ear and I had to stifle a giggle, "Sure." I replied, I was getting excited suddenly, this made our relationship feel really genuine!

"Great!" I said happily, puling away before saying it so I didn't scream in her ear. "I know they're excited!"

And knowing they were excited made me feel a lot better. My parents disappeared and then we went outside to the porch swing. It wasn't extremely dark yet so we had some time to spend.

"I hope Dad didn't overwhelm you any..."

"Not at all, and you were a pretty distraction to keep me from being too nervous." I said with a grin, taking her hand in mine and putting the other around her shoulders. Somehow, I knew she wouldn't mind.

I took that as the opportunity to lean my head against his chest and listen to his heart beat. It was like a sweet rhythm and it made me smile.

"I..."

I stopped myself. Was I ready for that word? Was I ready to say 'love' to him just yet?

I didn't say anything, but I pulled her closer to me, ever so gently and kissed her head. She was the most amazing woman to me. Everything I'd ever asked for.

I opened my mouth to speak but couldn't say anything, the chest pain was back and it felt a little worse than before. I just tried to breathe and then waited for it to pass.

"I lo..." I began but it was hard to finish it. "love you..." I finished, it passed but I felt like it had taken all my oxygen with it.

I felt like my heart was doing flips and jumps inside my chest. But I hugged her and lifter her face, ever so softly. "I love you too, Beautiful." I kissed her lips softly and smiled warmly. "More than anything."

I felt blissful, like I was on cloud nine where no one could get me down. I returned the kiss gently but it barely lasted, I was already out of breath. Should I say something?

Maybe it was nothing. I pushed myself up and wrapped my arms around his neck, leaning my head onto his shoulder.

I held her close to me so I could feel her life. I could feel and hear her breathing. Then, I noticed something. "Are you out of breath or something, Beautiful?" I asked, not daring to release her from the hug I now had her in.

"My chest just hurts a little..." I replied, but I could barely complete the sentence. "I'll be okay..." I hugged him really tight because I was suddenly afraid to let go.

I kissed her cheek softly. "Focus on my breathing, and try to match yours to keep in time." I said softly, holding her close.

I chuckled softly, "This sounds... weird..." I replied, I was starting to feel lightheaded though and it was hard to keep up with his breathing.

"I know it does," I smiled, "but it's either that or I breathe for you... which would prove to be awkward if your parents would us." I tried to keep calm and breathe regularly, though my mind was screaming for me to panic.

I looked up at his face but everything was going fuzzy, my chest was hurting really bad and I couldn't breathe anymore, it was just getting dark.

I squeezed his arm though my grip wasn't very good. What was going on?
