The Doctor's Lady

I watched everyone leave the playground, but I didn't care. All I wanted to do was help Grandma make medicines, and I had a lot to do today. I was making a cold medicine! She always needed a lot of that.

I sniffled and felt another sneeze coming on. Even though I felt horrible my parents wouldn't let me stay home. They were sort of uptight and no fun and hated for me to miss school. I felt so dizzy so I laid down in the cool grass and shivered. Jin was playing with what looked like dirt again... I liked him because he was always quiet and never rough like other boys.

Sometimes I'd try to talk to him even though he would only smile at me and nod to everything I said. I still liked him.

I looked around again and then saw Anissa laying on the ground. "Are you alright?" I asked softly. "You look pale."

I smiled at him and nodded as best as I could, "Yes, I'm fine, thank you... I just have a cold. Mommy and Daddy wouldn't let me stay home..." I yawned and closed my eyes, "Whatcha makin' today?"

"Cold medicine!" I said, gasping at the same time. "I can give it to you and it'll make you feel better!"

I sat up but flopped back over because of everything spinning around me. "Uugh... o-okay... you are like a doctor already."

"You really think that?" I asked, walking over to her with the bowl of powder. "And do you have a drink in your lunchbox?"

"I do think that." I opened my lunch box and pulled out some juice, "I have juice... is that good enough? It's grape..."

"Gimme gimme!I'll put the powder in it... but you have to drink it all, okay?" I eyed her carefully. "All of it. Don't waste the medicine, Missy."

I gasped in shock, he was very serious so as soon as the shock wore off I gave him a serious look and a sharp nod which made everything spinny again. "Okay, Dr. Jin!" I held out my juice to him, it was in a cup with a straw... that had a cute duck on it. I like duckies. <3

I took the cup and pulled the lid off, and then poured just the right amount of medicine in. The same amount Grandma gave me. "There. That should be good! Now," I snapped the lid back on, "you gotta drink it all or else it won't help."

I looked at the cup and then to Jin and then back to the cup. I began to sip through the straw... it tasted okay though. I kind of liked it because the medicine didn't taste icky. I drank it all down and then put the empty cup in my lunch box.

"Yummy! Thank you, Doctor!"

"I'm glad! I hope it helps and you don't have to come to the clinic! That would be bad!" I nodded and set my bowl aside. "What do you like to do?"

I gasped, "Oh dear, that would be terrible but... I like to say hi to Miss Irene sometimes! Umm... I like to plant flowers and read long books... do you like to read?"

"I love to read!" I said quickly. "I read about different herbs and things all the time!"
