STUFFS AND STUFFS

I crouched silently, creeping toward my goal. I pulled the string of my bow back, slowly aiming for the Terrian, a large animal with pointed ears and bright purple skin. It would be dinner tonight. I bit my lip and released the arrow. It struck the Terrian in the head, a clean kill. I stood up confidently and giggled to myself. Mother would be happy. Terrian was her favorite and I hadn't been able to get one in a while. I picked up the animal and draped it over my back, and I walked slowly toward the house, through the woods. I was starving and hoping to eat soon! And then go see my best friend! <3

I was putting together some supplies, Effie and I were preparing for a party. It wasn't a big party or anything, just a fun festival type get together. I had made a lot of sweet snacks I knew she loved!

Actually I was preparing alone. Effie would just be surprised because she didn't know it was coming. No, this was a surprise just for her for her coming of age! Normally at this age it would be the time that she'd pick a groom for marriage but neither of us had done such things. In the old days it was a custom but not anymore, much to our parents discomfort. They preferred for us not to live on our own without a husband but we didn't mind!

"Any second now..." I grinned.

I ran up to the door of Remia's house and paused for just a moment before bursting through and screaming. "I'M HEEEERE!!!!"

"SURPRISE!" I shouted back with a big grin. I tackled her in a hug and then looked behind me, "I made your favorite sweets and everything!"

I squealed in delight. "Oh, Remmie! You shouldn't have!!" I laughed and hugged her back tightly. "You're the best friend ever!!"

"I know!" I said acting like I was full of myself, "Kidding, how did hunting go today? I almost got killed today, it was insane!"

"Woah! I killed a Terrian! Mom's favorite! How did you almost get killed?! Tell me!"

"No way, that's amazing!" I said, giving her a sweet bun. "I had a bit of a fall and got a cut, it bled a lot but I think it's okay now!" I moved the fold of my robe to show her where I got cut on my side under my arm. "I landed on a claw!"

"Woah!!" I gasped! "I heard that Miriam broke her leg again!" I took a bite of the sweet roll.

"Oh... ouch." I sighed as I covered the bandaged wound up, "The men could never handle what we do every day. They are just lucky we do anything." Most of the time the men stayed back and made weapons or were merchants and brought supplies! Under serious circumstances we'd even hunt with our children strapped to our backs.

Dangerous but it was normal.

"Oh I knooooow! I could easily just laze around all day." I laughed. But we usually stayed around the house if we didn't need to hunt.

"Same here... it's just so dangerous but it's a rush too! I'll go with you next time if you invite me. It'll be fun! On second though, I'll invite you, let's go together!"

"Yes! It's so much easier to hunt together!" I sighed. "Remember our first time hunting together and we argued about which path to take?"

"It was so confusing and we lost our maps. It's amazing, we don't even need maps now... so do you have someone in mind that you might pick for marriage later?" I asked, "I still don't know, though I have a few who have asked."

I shrugged and shook my head. "No... I just... can't picture myself marrying any of the men here."
