Truth and Falsehood

Adder awoke with a start, his eyes were wide and he was breathing heavily. He glanced around quickly, taking in his surroundings and he found himself to be in a room that must have been part of an inn. He'd been laid on a mattress by the fire... he must have passed out from the cold. "A-Amon?" He struggled to sit up. There was another bed, but he couldn't really see if anyone was there from where he was.

"Yes?" Amoneha hobbled into the room, her wound had gotten terrible and had actually began to get terribly infected. "You slept for nearly two days..."

Adder's eyes widened and he jumped up suddenly. "What?! Y-Your ankle! Let me look at it!"

"It's fine!" Amoneha huffed but it was too late, he was looking at it after she sat down, "You should be resting, you almost died and you really aren't all that well yet."

Adder had already pulled his pack over and gotten out the supplies to try to clean her ankle. "I don't care. Your ankle needs to be properly cleaned and cared for." He frowned and began to clean it with a dab of medicine out of a bottle he'd brought. "This will probably sting."

"Ngh..." Amoneha closed her eyes, she did that when she was in any sort of pain. She couldn't handle it so she held her breath and closed her eyes, brows furrowed deep. She let out a long breath and gasped again. Her wound was bad enough that it had easily spread and became worse over the last couple days. "Ow..."

"Sorry, but I've really got to make sure it's clean." He frowned deeper. "And... sorry for passing out on you." He set the cloth aside and then began to wrap up her ankle.

"It's fine." Amoneha finally opened her eyes, she wanted to pass out but she didn't. The pain was worse than she thought it could be but it was slowly turning into a burning sensation. "You should rest again."

"N-Nah... I don't feel that so bad..." Adder went stiff and seemed to stare blankly before slopping over. He'd passed out again. -_-;

Amoneha stared back at him and then threw him back onto the bed... or rather, rolled him onto the mattress and covered his feet with a pillow. It was hard to cover him up with the blankets as he was on top of them. "Hmph..."

Adder sat up quickly, startled awake again. "OH MY- WHAT THE-?!" He jumped off of the mattress where the blanket was on fire and patted out the fire on his pants leg. "WHAT THE HECK?!" He rolled up the already-on-fire-blanket and tossed it into the fireplace. "GAH!"

"Why are you panicking? Who are you now?" Amoneha had been sleeping was suddenly favoring her head, the startle must have made her dizzy.

Adder's eyes widened and he shifted back to his other form. "I- My bed was on fire." He frowned, conveniently forgetting to answer her question. "I was on fire... but it's out now."

"Oh... I'm sorry." Amoneha got out of bed and limped pitifully over to help him move his bed, "It was hard to get you back over to the bed..."

Adder frowned and picked up the thin mattress. "It's alright, you can go back to sleep now." He dropped it in the opposite corned of the room... the furthest from the fireplace, and decided he would sleep without a blanket that night.

Amoneha nodded and laid down uncomfortably. When morning dawned, Amoneha got up and was limping painfully out of the room, it was hard to stand on the ankle that was still trying to heal.

"Amon! Good morning!"

"Good morning, Luna..."

"Did your friend wake up?"

"Last night." She sat down and held back the tears that were threatening to fall. "He passed out after a little while though, I think he's still sick."

"Yes..." The young woman nodded slowly. "It can take a little while to recover from getting so cold. Maybe he came down with some illness?" She smiled sweetly and set a glass of milk in front of Amon. "Perhaps a get well gift may suit him? Gifts always speed the healing process, I say!"

Amoneha frowned, "I don't give gifts to anyone... he'll be fine, he's a man and I'm sure he'll heal himself." She took a long sip of the milk, her throat and mouth were terribly dry. "No one is getting me gifts."

"I just gave you milk!" Luna grinned. "But really, why don't you give gifts? Giving gifts makes me feel very happy! I'm sure it would cheer you up as well!"
