To Whom It May Concern

I listened to her before going on, "I want you to come in tomorrow, alright? I have some stuff to talk to you about then. And before you go to bed I want you to be smiling. Don't worry about too much." I said.

I nodded before I realized he couldn't see me. "O-Okay... I'll be there..." I sniffed and stifled a sob. "And I promise, I'll be smiling..."

"I trust you, Rae. Goodnight. And if you need anything don't hesitate to call me. Bye." I waited for her to say it before I hung up. I didn't want her to think I was one of those bye and hang up people.

"Okay... bye!" I replied before hanging up the phone. I sighed and looked in the mirror. "How did ranting about a cat suddenly turn into a confession of love?" I looked down at my phone and grinned. "I guess it doesn't really matter... Jynx..." I turned the cat sitting on the couch.

"HE LOVES ME!!!! <3"

The next morning I was still feeling pretty out of it and sore but I was up for seeing Rae and talking to her as long as I could. I had so much to say and I couldn't wait!

I knocked on the door before stepping in quietly. "Matt?" I said softly. "You awake?"

"Yeah I'm up." I called, looking out of the corner of my eye. I still didn't have the ability to move my neck. I pointed to a place on my bed for her to sit down.

I shut the door softly before walking over and sitting on the side of his bed where he pointed. "Hey... did you sleep okay?" I asked softly.

"After the nurse brought me some sleep aid, yes. You?" I asked. A nice way to start off the conversation. It was a little easier to talk to her than when I first woke up.

I nodded. "I fell asleep with a smile. Just as I promised. Coincidentally, I woke up with one too."

"That's great. I had Dan bring this in this morning. I'm not going to push it on you but this is something I'd like you to look at." I pulled over a Bible with a hot pink cover. It had her name engraved in the corner.

"I'm sorry if it feels like I'm pushing..." I whispered, "I'm not trying to."

I worried that her smile would drop.

I looked at it... but oddly, I wasn't mad. "Th-thanks..." I took it from him and fingered the corner where my name was. "How did you guess my favorite color?" I asked with a smile.

"I don't know. I just thought you'd like it. I was going to give it to you yesterday after the recording for congratulations while we had dinner... which I hadn't told you about yet. I feel bad now."

"It's okay... thanks!" I grinned widely and looked down at the book in my hands. I would read it... I decided... I didn't want to argue religion with him anymore.

You saved him. You brought him to me. Thank you.

"I'm sorry. It's not what you expect right? After what I said last night you probably weren't sure what I wanted to say..." I coughed a little, cringing as a pain flared in my chest.

"It doesn't matter what I expected... right?" I asked, smiling still. "Thanks... I promise I'll read it!"

My brows furrowed a little, "You don't have to promise. It's a gift. Read it when God calls you to... I marked a couple pages I want you to look at though. I hope you will." I would have given her a hug but it hurt to move so I just laid there.

"Okay..." I still planned on reading it though. I opened it and began to flip through the pages. I was a totally different person from when I'd met him.

I felt a lot of pressure on my head and closed my eyes. I hadn't felt good all morning but I was trying so hard for her.

I glanced at him. "Are you okay...?"

"Just this pressure in my head is making me crazy..." I grumbled, "It really hurts." I hoped it wasn't anything serious, or more serious than I already had.

"Oh... want me to get a nurse? Or... I can leave! You probably just need some peace and quiet!" I stood up quickly, getting ready to leave.

"Get a nurse. I can't keep my eyes open and I feel really dizzy." I didn't want to take this to chance especially after a skull fracture. It was just not a good idea.

"Alright!" I held my new Bible close and ran out the door, coming back in seconds later with three nurses.

I may have over-done it a bit... but I didn't particularly care... besides... the other two nurses chose to come...

I got a C.T scan and the results came back with something not so pretty. There was blood and a chance I could die from the pressure if it wasn't taken care of. Which meant losing my hair.

I was glad God was on my side or I would have felt terrified.
