She numbed my skin with her ice-cold fingers. "What were you doing prior to being in here? You fingers are extremely co-" I then started laughing. Yes, yes... tickle the stitches did.

"I"m sorry, someone who is terrified of needles is here and when I gave her a shot she almost passed out so I got her a sprite and some ice." I explained.

"Ah... I see!" I said, recovering from my giggle fit. Yes, guys have giggle fits too. "Did she finally calm down?"

"After she threw up." I sighed, "Oh well, I shouldn't be talking so much..." I put some more medicine on it so it would continue to heal and then gave him a new bandage.

"Okay, no taking that off." I smiled.

"Will you kiss it? If you will, I promise not to." I smirked, fully expecting her to roll her eyes at me or something. Haha, I know... I'm stupid.

"Now you're just pressing your luck with me." I backed up and crossed my arms across my chest. "Now put your shirt back on like a good boy."

"Fine fiiiiine." I sighed, still smiling when I slipped it on. "At least you don't hate me yet."

"No, I don't hate. I dislike, there is a difference." I replied with a bit of a sigh.

"Ah... so what will it take for me to get you to like me?" I asked, leaning forward on the bed.

"Time." I replied, "You're very sweet but I need time, I'm sorry." I did like him, but I felt scared still. Time was what I wanted.

"Alright then, I'll give you all the time you need." I grinned at her, as always. So beautiful, and so kind... but mean too at times.

"Thank you, I'm sorry."

But gradually things began to change. He came over and we spent time with family and watched movies and had big dinners. <3

Another day at work, another break. I sat under the big red and white striped umbrella, lighting up my second cigarette of the day. And boy, was it needed.

I showed up for some hot chocolate and cherry pie when I saw Drew sitting outside with a cigarette. I frowned and came to sit with him.

"Is something wrong?" I asked.

"This whole day." I said, making an effort to blow the smoke away from her. "I haven't had single chance to just stop and exist. On top of that, all of my customers are being buttholes. "I want this, I want that. You idiot, you got my order wrong!" I sighed. "Is it really that big of a deal when I get orders wrong? All they have to do is tell me nicely. Yelling doesn't speed up the process at all." I sucked in another full breath of tobacco smoke. At least I was getting to see Karson though. That was making the day better.

I sighed and snatched the cigarette and tossed it down the gutter again.

"Smoking doesn't heal anything, that's what pie is for."

I breathed out the rest of the smoke that was in my lungs, away from her. "Seriously? But I really needed that." I sighed and dropped my head, letting it hit the table with a loud SMACK.

"Mmmmnnmnmmmnm."

"Shh, you never need a death stick. You don't want to die." I picked up a menu and ordered two slices of cherry pie.

I didn't even realize a waiter was there. "What kind of drink do you want?" I asked numbly, not looking up. My happiness on a stick was gone now. I didn't care if it killed me. I just wanted to calm down and forget about this morning.

"Two rootbeer floats, thank you." Then our yummy and healthier-than-smoke food arrived so we could chow down.

"This is real comfort, right here!" I said with a grin.

"Isn't comfort food bad for you too?" I asked before burying my sorrows of the day in cherry pie.

"It's healthier than smoke." I said with a sigh, "Just be happy, this is the best cherry pie on the planet."

I smiled. "It's not the pie that makes me happy, you know."

"I know, but it's an added bonus." I smiled back, ever so softly.

I got a smile out of her! Amazing! "You should smile more. It's very becoming of you... unlike a frown."
