I live in a Tent

I frowned. "I think... he's felt that way for quite some time. He'd frequently tell me he didn't want to die, but there was nothing I could do for him... I was useless to him." I wiped at my eyes, and sniffed. "M-Maybe we should... have someone help us move him... or something."

"Okay..." I got up with Karyn. We found some close friends of his and reported the news. They sucked up their sadness for the moment to help us move him and have a funeral. In the process I found a stuffed envelope on the table in his room.

After the funeral I presented it to Kayla.

We decided to open it together. We sat down at the table and I unfolded the letter.

Kayla, Nymm, if either of you, or you both are, I just want to say thank you for always being so kind to me. You are both wonderful people, and I was blessed to have you both.

But, this isn't just a letter, it's a will as well. The night I wrote this, Karyn had just been born, and I realized I had never written a will. I had decided I wanted the best for Karyn and Nymm. But first, to Kayla, the first harvest of every harvest of my herbs, will go to her, so she may continue to make medicine, and heal others.

And then to Nymm and Karyn, I leave my property, and everything on it, including the cows and everything in the home. All of my money is hers, the debts owed to me are to be collects and given to her as soon as the money is available. Everything that was once mine, is now hers.

And Nymm, please know that I love, and loved you. Since the day I met you, I fell in love. I never told you, knowing that it couldn't be. But, I hope you won't think less of me for that. And please... find someone you love. Find him, and make sure he's good to Karyn too. Kayla, slap Nymm if the guy is bad news. I want them to have the best. Anyway, this is too long, actually, so I love you. Have good lives.

I stared at the letter quietly and folded it. I had known he loved me but I wondered if he even knew that I loved him back... very much. Our silent love for each other had meant more than a loud passionate love for someone else. I wasn't sure what to do with myself, even though I had so much to live off of it just seemed empty without him. But I had to move on and say goodbye, grieving was something I had to do in my alone time while Karyn slept.

I still had to be a mother and a best friend for Kayla. That's what he wanted, he wanted us both to grow and move on.
