Actions Speak Louder

Miranda began to scream loudly immediately, thankful that Owen's sleep was enchanted, or he might wake up and try to save her from whatever danger it was. The pain was excruciating at first and began to turn into a terrible burning sensation. She hadn't realized just how tight her grip on Owen's hand was... might that hurt him when he awoke? She hoped not.

Draco nudged her softly, trying to be of comfort to her.

"Done." The queen pulled away her scepter, then made a quick swiping motion at Mira's chest. "I have severed the link between your body and your old heart. You are now connected to Owen."

Miranda's chest felt heavy, but it was a good heavy and the beat was beautiful... it was warm and comforting. "Thank you..." She said in a hoarse voice, eyes closing slowly. She could finally rest peacefully at Owen's side.

As they slept, the Queen of the fairies spent the night placing enchantment after enchantment over their hearts and bodies for protection against the witch. She was very intent on making the enchantments fool-proof... she didn't want this couple... whose love was purer than any she'd ever seen to suffer. She wanted them to be truly happy.

"You are very kind." Draco rumbled as he lay by her feet as they watched the young couple sleep.

"I only saw people who needed to be protected... and who needed help. I had the power to help, so I did."

"You are most kind, Queen Amiah. It's so good to see you again... it's been a while." Draco nuzzled her face and she giggled in surprise.

"Draco..."

His mind flashed back to seeing her as a child fairy, chubby and playful. "You've grown so much."

"As have you... you don't seem to be able to shrink quite so 'small' as you used to." She made a horizontal motion with her hands, and a smirk.

"Hey, a dragon's got to eat you know..."

"Mhm... I missed you. I never knew you were chosen... or chose, an elf for your partner." Amiah feigned jealousy and then reached over to pat his nose. "I knew you couldn't stay forever though, you stopped visiting... I have two daughters now."

Draco seemed surprised. "I never saw you as the type."

"I was a child myself." She smiled softly. "I didn't want to become queen at one point."

"Well, you are best suited to be a queen. Thank you for taking care of my two-legs... they are very good people."

"They are wonderful people, I can already tell. They are also very in love. They will have beautiful children."

"I am certain you did as well... what are your daughters names?"

Amiah perked up a little bit more, "They are Lanya and Kiyann. Kiyann was born a few weeks ago... I've been told I need to spend time recovering, but it never takes long to feel better. I will let you meet them after I finish up here."

"I would love that..." Draco smiled and purred softly. "You know how I love children... my heart feels young and happy when I see them."

"Alright then... they seem to be safe enough, I'll return shortly." Amiah left and entered through a small door. Not long after, she returned with a bundle in her arms and a toddling girl, hand gripping the skirt of her mother's dress.

"Lanya, say hello, he's an old friend."

"Hi..." The small child hid her face into the fabric of the gown, her cheeks were bright red.

"She's shy, I was never so shy as a child."

Draco chuckled softly. "Well, she's pretty... hello, Young One. I am Draco." He sniffed her a bit, then licked her face. "How old are you?"

"Tis much..." Lanya held up four fingers, her little wings fluttered nervously. "Kiki is tis!" Then she closed her hands tight into fists, representing a zero.

Draco smiled happily. "Well, you are very tall for four... even I am impressed." His tail wiggled playfully and he purred in pure contentment. "I like you, Lanya."

Lanya's eyes brightened and her smile grew, "Ooh..." She finally toddled out of hiding and tripped a little, tugging on her mother's skirt again so she wouldn't fall. "You... You're bootiful."

Amiah smiled warmly, "Are you pleased, Draco?" She ventured cheerfully, "I think I turned out well... when your two legs have a child, please return them to me so I may give a blessing. I see a lot of hardships for the two of them... but they will make it and their child will do great things. I hope you will also have an heir one day," Amiah paused and studied him. "You seem flustered, dear friend... what troubles you so?"

Lanya toddled close enough to get a good look at his scales.

Draco's eyes were wide and he rumbled a bit. "I-I am not certain I will have an heir... I haven't seen a female dragon since I hatched..." He spread one wing out and pulled Lanya into a dragon-y hug.

Lanya's feet flew off the ground and she was cradled in his wing, her giggles echoed throughout the safe haven. Amiah stifled a giggle at seeing her daughter's little hands wave in the air.

"Hmm, I'm certain there are some out there somewhere. We have an abundance of eggs this winter, so... who knows?" She walked over to him and kissed his nose, "Don't doubt... Owen is in high years and he's just now found his true love. The same could be said for you... it took me time as well."

Draco seemed a bit flustered at that comment. "We... we shall see I s-suppose." He bounced his wing a little, playing with the little girl who was playing on it. "Bounce bounce..."

"Mhm... you should rest though, it's been a very long night for you and I should get my darlings to sleep... well, the one bouncing on your wing."

Lanya giggled and squealed as she was launched gently into the air once again before Draco brought her to a steady landing and let her roll softly to the ground. She picked herself up, dusted off her little nightie and toddled back to her mother. "Nigh nigh, dwagon!"

"Goodnight, Lanya. Sleep well, my friends." Draco stood up, and moved to lay between his two-legs' beds. "Thank you again." He rumbled before nodding off to sleep.

Miranda woke up the next morning feeling refreshed and just a little sore... maybe it was because of how Owen was sleeping, his poses were rather hilarious - but if she was already sore she knew he would be too.

"Good morning." Amiah smiled softly, she was cradling her tiny bundle while Lanya toddled around with a small armload of supplies.

"Mornin'... Majesty."

"Please call me Amiah."

"Amiah... thank you so much for doing what you did."

"It was my pleasure... Draco is an old friend of mine... I would do anything for him."

Draco rumbled some, he was following Lanya around like a nanny. "The feeling is mutual. Lanya, don't drop anything, we can't make a thousand trips for one egg..."

"Hmm...?" Owen groaned and sat up, clutching his chest immediately. It felt lighter than usual. "Draco...? Why are you stalking a little girl...?"

"I'm not stalking, I'm watching!"

Lanya nodded quickly and toddled ahead of him, her eyes were focused and she appeared to be holding her items tightly enough that they wouldn't slip. "Kaaaay!" She disappeared through a tall door, her wings fluttered enough to lift her off the ground and her legs were still moving as though she was running.

"Owen..." Miranda moved to him quickly and hugged him. "I'm so glad you're awake!"

An 'oof' escaped Owen when he was wrapped in a hug, but he smiled happily, and hugged her back. "I'm just glad you're alright now." He kissed her cheek and breathed a sigh of relief.

"I feel so much better... now we can live our lives and keep our future children." Miranda returned his kiss and began to cry softly into his chest, she had never been so happy or relieved before.

Amiah stood up and approached them, "The two of you are a perfect example of pure... true love. Before you depart, I wish to bless you both. Hold hands."

Miranda moved to sit next to Owen, their fingers laced together tightly.

The queen laid her hand on Owen's head and smiled warmly, "Today, I bless the union of this pure love. A bond that shall never be severed - even by death. May their bond grow even stronger through the years they spend together. Miranda..." Amiah put her hand on Miranda's head. "I told Draco this last night... I see great things for your family. I hope you will return here when you have a child, so I can bless it, before and after she's... or he's born." She smiled warmly.

Miranda nodded slowly, "We will."

"Good, with that being said... I pronounce you husband and wife."
