This Is Why I'm Here... 1

I stopped my bike by this little ice cream shop by the bus stop. It was deserted... as usual when I ordered my ice cream cone. I got a chocolate fudge... single scoop! It was well worth the two dollars I paid for it. I rolled my bike along and sat down on a bench to eat it before heading to school. I had enough time to enjoy it, so why not stop and watch everyone go by?

This was part of my usual routine. Get up early, get dressed and ready, unlock my bike, ride to the ice cream shop, sit there, and leave for school again. I stretched out with a big yawn and continued to lick my cone. It was wonderful... as always.

Oh, and there was one more thing on my schedule I forgot to mention. The reason I continued to come to this shop in particular. But you'll find that out later.

There were at least four bus stops on this route. I took this route every day to the private school I went to on Hanes Street. It was a quiet route, there wasn't a lot to see save for a few shops and an ice cream shop along the way. I laid my brown leather bag on my lap and tapped my fingers against it tiredly.

It was bright, sunny day and the sun was in my eyes a little which made me sleepy especially since it seemed to beat against my window.

We were passing the ice cream parlor and I was tempted to get off and buy myself a couple scoops of strawberry ripple.

I looked up at the bus. It was right on time. And she was sitting in the exact same spot she always sat. She never seemed to notice me sitting here, but I always saw her. I smiled and bit off a chunk of ice cream in my absent-mindedness which threw me into a fit of convulsions.

Ah, that cute guy was there again. I smiled a little and pressed my nose and forehead to the window in attempt to get him to notice me but he seemed to be dancing? Was that dancing?

It couldn't be qualified as dancing. Maybe he was epileptic...

maybe I should call an ambulance?

I was finally able to swallow the melted ice cream in my mouth and sighed, rubbing my forehead again and looking up to make sure that girl didn't see me.

She did.

I paled and stared at her a moment before waving with a nervous, but somewhat happy smile.

Little did I know that I had chocolate ice cream all around my mouth.

I stifled a giggle and looked away trying to pretend like I didn't notice the chocolate around his mouth. At least he was okay. While the bus was stopped I jotted down my number and pressed it to the window.

Could he see it? Was it big enough?

Ah! Why was I showing my number anyway? He could be a pervert! D;

Wait.. was that her number? AH! My phone! I scrambled quickly to get my phone out, but I dropped it as soon as I got it out of my pocket. Ah! Stupid shaky hands! "Ah-uh-uhm!" I grabbed it quickly and stared at them number. The bus was leaving! But I couldn't run with ice cream...

I gulped and threw down the ice cream and ran beside the bus, trying to put her number in my phone. I dodged benches and people, running to try and keep up well enough to get her information in before putting the number in. Stupid phone won't let me put the number in first!

The way this town was we'd soon be at another stop sign, I couldn't believe he was actually chasing it down and it was hard not to laugh but everyone behind me and in front of me began to laugh.

Then the bus stopped.

I was very much out of breath, and my hands were shaking even worse. But I got it typed in and fumbled with my phone to try and save the number and try and put it in my pocket. I looked up at her and turned a little red, grinned like an idiot. I waved.

Gah. I'm so stupid! >.<

After the bus started going again I pulled the paper down, knowing he'd gotten the whole thing when he waved to me. Would he really call it though?

I could only wonder.

I watched the bus go and sighed. Why did she give me her number? I turned to go back and get my bike and gulped. Should I call her? I pulled my phone out and fingered it. Is that what she wanted? Or did she want a text? I glanced at a window and saw the ice cream. "Oh... really?" I sighed and rubbed it off with a frown and stared at the phone again. "Ah, forget it." I pressed the send button on my phone over her name. My heart was [pounding in my chest.

"Oh he's really calling?"

I glanced over at Jamie, my best friend and then shrugged, "I guess..." I flipped my phone open and put it to my ear, bracing myself since I wasn't sure what he sounded like or anything. He could just be pervy and harass me.

Why had I been so stupid? Oh well, maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

"Hello?"

My breath caught in my throat. "Ah... h-hi." I gulped. "M-My name's Kyle. I-I'm the guy who chased the bus..."

Jamie kept poking me asking me what his name was but I just held up my index finger and ignored her. I listened until he stopped talking and then spoke.

"I'm Rhema... it's nice to meet you."

I cleared my throat some. "Uh-Ah... y-you too." I was relieved to find my bike was still there and smiled. "Ah, great... it's still here."

All that time of seeing him and I had no idea what to say. I felt kind of nervous and the distraction of Jamie didn't really help matters any.

"Umm... ah..." I sighed a little, "Kyle....."

"Y-Yes?" I replied, searching my mind for some kind of topic for a conversation.

"Tomorrow is Saturday. Let's get ice cream together, I'll ride my bike..." I offered.

I nodded, then realized she couldn't see me anymore. "Ah, yes! That sounds great! M-My treat?" I climbed on my bike. I was already late for school!

"Yeah, that sounds good." After talking for a couple more minutes I hung up and flopped back a little, that was scary but it wasn't so bad in the end.

I closed my phone and stuck it in my back pocket. It'd never been so hard for me to speak to a girl as it was to talk to her. "I feel so stupid. Why does she want to talk to me? Oh well, after tomorrow, she probably won't talk to me again..." I gulped and parked my bike, locking it to the bike gate.

*Saturday*

The air was so crisp that Saturday afternoon. It wasn't a bad sort of crisp, it was fresh and nice to be out and not on that stuff bus. I parked my bike and locked it up, deciding to peek in the window to see if Kyle was there or if I should wait outside for him.

I pulled up moments later and parked my bike too. Then I froze when I saw her there. I forced myself to move and walked toward her. "G-Good morning!" I said with a warm smile.

"Hello!" I gave a smile, he seemed cuter up close, tall and handsome too. I liked his hair and his eyes. <3 "I was wondering if we should maybe eat a small lunch before ice cream? There's a nice restaurant across the street."

This girl... she could moved a mountain if it only took beauty. "Ah..?" I looked across the street where she referred to it and nodded. "Ohh!!! There! Y-Yeah! I've been there once I think. It's really good! Okay then," I had rained over night and the roads were wet and slippery, so I held out my hand to her. "let's go!"
