Our Little Recap 1

"Well, do what your dad did... don't let them!" I grinned. "If you don't let them stop doing things, they won't!"

I hadn't thought about that at all, I hadn't thought about how it must have been when Dad lost his legs how how they adjusted to it, it was so long before I was even born so it never occurred to me really.

"That's a good point." I smiled, "Thanks."

"You're welcome. I'm sure your dad can sympathize if no one else can." I grinned and kissed her hand. "How are your flowers, by the way? Tell me when they start to wilt and I'll get you more."

"They are absolutely gorgeous, Aaron. I'm going to need at least three or four vases when I get into the hospital, I'm afraid there will be no color there." I smiled, I was really trying to stay positive.

"Mmm, I think I can handle that."

AHAHAH! She had NO idea! >DDD

"Yes, I think I can make a hospital room look fun and colorful!"

"Thanks, I appreciate that! So what should we do until we go to the game?" I asked, I was feeling a little tired but I could stay awake.

"I think we should take a nap..." I kissed her cheek.

"Ohhhh!!!! There's my pretty lady!!" Dad exclaimed, waltzing into the kitchen.

"Not yours, Dad. She's mine!" I laughed.

"Sorry, I'm all his!" I grinned a little, "I think yours went to do laundry! But hi!" I went over to give him a hug.

"Oh! Ouch!" He laughed. "How are you, sweetheart? Mamma Susan was talking about wanting to take you shopping and get you a bunch of clothes! Did she tell you? I'm paying!"

I laughed. "Man, I see who's favored here!"

"Ah yeah, I was just talking about when we could go, I'm not going to be available after after Tuesday." I said, I knew I'd have to tell eventually.

"Oh really? Don't tell me Aaron's run you off!" He looked at me curiously.

"No, no Dad! I didn't! I swear! She's still mine."

"I have to get something done... um..." I looked at him nervously and said, "Ch-Chemotherapy..." I wasn't sure how they would react to it.

"Chemotherapy?" He stared at her for a moment and then looked at me. "Did you know about this?"

"Y-Yes sir." I admitted. "I was planning on skipping school on Tuesday to be able to go with her."

"Oh really?" He gulped. I knew what he was thinking. "We'll pray for you, Sweetheart. If there's ever anything we can do, even if you just need someone to talk to, Mamma Susan and I are here. And Aaron, I'll write you a school excuse."

I knew saying that would be bad, I could tell that Dad was upset and that there wasn't anything I could say that would be the least bit reassuring knowing that my case was life threatening.

"Does Mamma Susan know?"

I shook my head. "Not yet."

"Do you want me to tell her?" He asked softly, I knew he was trying not to cry. It nearly broke the family apart when my sister died. No one wanted to go through this again, but none of us would ever abandon Amanda.

"I-I can!" I offered, "I mean I don't want... it to make everyone said, I'll be okay." I knew they wouldn't believe that though, his dad looked really upset and I wasn't sure I could quell it.

He hugged her and kissed her cheek. "I love you, just want you to know that."

"Dad, don't scare her." I laughed nervously.

"I'm sorry, but I'll tell Mamma Susan if you don't want to. I know she can be pretty emotional..."

I wasn't sure I could handle anymore crying for the moment, "If you want to tell her you can... I'm really sorry for bringing this up..."

"No, it's okay! Thank you for loving us enough to tell us!" He hugged her again then sniffed a little bit as he walked off to the laundry room.

"Uhm, he's about to tell Mom... let's go buy you a slushie!" I grinned and held out my hand. "What's your favorite slushie? I'll get you that."

"I really like cola..." I said as we rushed out, I felt really bad for ruining a happy moment by explaining myself. T-T

I picked her up, remembering the way she flopped out of the car. "Cola? Never had that one! I like the blue raspberry!"

"Yum! If they don't have it maybe they'll have cherry." I said, I put an arm around his neck as we went to his car. I glanced worriedly back at his house, "Was he going to cry?"

"Um..." I gulped a little. "Y-Yeah, most likely." That's why we were leaving. He gets embarrassed when he cries around other people and I didn't want to put him through that... and I also didn't want Amanda to see him that way. He still needed to be her superman.

"I didn't want him to be sad about it... I didn't want anyone to cry over me." I said as we got into the car, I buckled up and laid my hands in my lap, "I'm sorry."

"It's okay, he's just worried he'll lose you too and he doesn't want to do that..." I pulled my seatbelt on and started up the truck.
