Our Little Recap

I shrugged. "Well, if we actually did start dating tomorrow, I want to know what's hurting you instead of being left in the dark and having to guess." I smiled.

"Oh, well now you know! It's one of the things I just have to live with... handy yes but prosthetics aren't that fun, it almost makes sitting in a wheelchair with a numb butt seem appealing sometimes." I shrugged.

I laughed. "I'm sure Dad would beg to differ, but it would be really weird to see him standing. He lost his legs before I was born." I said. "I know he complains about his but going numb a lot!"

"Oh yeah, I know how it feels to not be able to walk, I couldn't until I was almost fourteen, I was this one legged freak at school... ya know? I..." I frowned, I was going too deep and I didn't really want to talk about that, it was embarrassing. "Anywho! We should grab some food!"

I was about to object and insist she continue, but I'd heard her stomach growling and she obviously didn't trust me enough to talk yet. "Yeah, I know you're hungry." I stood up and offered her my hands to help her up. "I want you to finish that story when you're more comfortable with me."

I stood up and bent over in annoyance, "I'll be comfortable with you eventually... I'm not even comfortable enough to show up without this thing on..." I climbed up the last step and braced myself for the warm welcome.

I opened the door for her and everyone got quiet, then began fussing at us for taking so long because they were starving. "Heh, sorry..." I chuckled a little. "We were caught up in conversation. Hey, Dad! It turns out prosthetics are uncomfortable so you don't want them anyway!"

"Oh, thanks! I was wondering about that..." Dad said, in thought. "Hmm, how odd! Oh well, guess I'll have to deal with a numb butt!"

I laughed softly, "I'd trade you for a day but then you'd only have one leg and you'd be really short..." I admitted with a bit of a giggle, the pizza in the house smelled so wonderful!

That giggle. I glanced at her, taking a mental picture of her laughing face when Katie caught my eye and winked. That's when I realized I was smiling like an idiot. But now, thanks to Kat, my face was burning up! Darn you, Katie LeeAnn Harrison! >( You'll ruin our secret!

"I'm gonna go grab a slice of pizza." I said with a yawn. "I'm starving."

Dad laughed. "Good thing we already blessed it. Everyone, dig in!"

And in five seconds, a pregnant woman was already pushing me out of the way to claim her four slices of pepperoni.

I managed to get next to Andy, I'd met her briefly before but she looked different every time I saw her, "You are so cute!" I said to her with a big smile, "Pregnant looks really good on you." I said, leaning over to see if I could read the text on her shirt.

I was pretty social and pretty honest too. 8O

"'Scuuuuse me!" Ian came around and snagged two slices.

"That's one too many!" Zack shouted from behind, stealing one of Ian's.

I grabbed both of theirs and hurried off with them. Theirs had the most pepperoni on them! "Keely! I've got you a good one!"

"And not one for your dear sister?!" Kat exclaimed, stealing the piece off of Ian's plate he'd just retrieved and hurrying to sit by Zack.

Comment going unnoticed I limped to follow Eli to the bean bag chairs on the other side of the den, everyone was getting seated and arguing over who had the most pepperonis.

Amanda had a small slice to herself, quietly eating with a tired smile on her face.

I dropped the slice with the most pepperonis on her plate and grinned. "Enjoy, I snagged it just for... well, myself. But I'm giving it to you because I'm nice like that."

...And because your smile makes my heart melt. I thought to myself.

I heard Katie talking to Andy and all of a sudden, through all the noise in the house, Andy's voice carried like a tornado siren. "OH! Keely, I'm so sorry!!! I didn't hear you! Kat told me what you said and thank you so much! Eli gave me this shirt! I love the loading bar!"

"Oh, it's okay! It's loud here anyway!"

I turned to thank Eli for the pizza and took a couple of bites, watching everyone around me who had apparent relationships. We were not ready to reveal ours yet... I wasn't sure if it would work out and I wanted to keep my pride.

I sighed softly. I loved my family, and the loudness sometimes went unnoticed. I actually hadn't noticed the volume until Keely pointed it out. She was right, it was very loud. I wiggled into the bean bag a little more to better suit my rear and took a massive bit of my pizza, the total opposite of the girl next to me. I smiled because of it. We must have been a funny sight! One nibbling pizza like a rabbit and the other delving into it like a wolf or something!

I was relieved that no one was asking about us, sitting next to each other on bean bag chairs, but everyone was pretty much caught up in the current events of the house. Andy's baby, Amanda and whatever else appeared to be going on. Some of it seemed to be centered around Mrs. Harrison's going back to work, since Kara was three and was easily taken care of by older members of the family.

"I'm sorry about it being so loud." I said to her, leaning over to her so she could hear me. "It always gets like this. I really hope you don't mind!"

"It's fine, I'm not really overwhelmed by it, I only really have one fear though..." I was thinking of whispering it to him and then I decided to, "I can't stand the sight of blood, I throw up or pass out... it's just the scariest thing..."

"Really?" I grinned. "Well then, I guess I'll just have to make sure I see the blood before you do and keep you from seeing it. I'll protect you from the blood."

"Thanks." I blushed a little bit for some reason, I hoped no one else saw my face turn completely red or else I was in trouble. I was already falling.

Falling in this deep hole they call 'love'.

Her face was bright red, and no matter how badly I wanted to kiss her cheek at that moment, I wasn't allowed. So I gave her a smile instead and held myself back by shoving pizza in my mouth.

"Sorry..." I felt bad for not letting him be honest about us as we were sitting outside a little later that evening, "I feel bad for being so... me."

I shook my head. "Don't! You are exactly who I like. If you weren't you, I would be very sad." I said with a smile. "Don't change, I like you the way you are."

"I'm prideful and a little bit scared of limelight..." I admitted, clasping my hands together and then crossing my good leg over the prosthetic, I was feeling a little bit worn out, "I hate it because I always get it when people see that I'm... missing a limb." I shrugged.

"Well, that's because it's cool. It's cool, because you were one of the few people, that when you lost that leg," I poked it with a grin. "You didn't give up. You deserve every bit of limelight you get." I said matter-of-factly.
