Truth and Falsehood

"Because I don't normally leave my home..." Amoneha sipped at her milk again, "I don't really know many people..." She didn't want the woman to know too much about her life.

Luna frowned a slight. "That is very sad... but what about your friend? You seemed pretty worried about him when you brought him in. Is he not a close friend of yours?"

Amoneha frowned, "I just want to go home, he's... not a very close friend but we work closely together... sort of." She rubbed the back of her head a little. "I'm not certain that I feel comfortable talking about this."

Luna nodded in understanding. "Alright, I won't pry." She smiled then. "He is awfully handsome though." She sighed dreamily and her eyes almost sparkled. "I wish we had men like that in our town."

"Mhhm..." Amoneha seemed distant about that time, once she'd finished her milk. "I'm going to rest some more." She got up and immediately started to fall, her leg wasn't strong enough to support her.

"Woah! There you are!" Adder caught her, his timing was perfect. "You shouldn't be walking on your leg... it'll swell up and hurt even worse than it does now. Are you alright?"

Luna's eyes were sparkling in pure delight and wonder. He was such... such a gentleman! It was so romantic the way he caught her and gave her such a cute and mischievous grin! *w*

"I have to get around though..." Amoneha's face was on fire, she couldn't get out of this situation or she'd fall again and then it would just be terribly embarrassing. Her heart was racing so fast that she felt almost nauseous. She refused to make eye contact with him, when suddenly her ears began to turn red as well. Thankfully her hair was covering most of that.

"Ah... well then... how about we go find you a cane?" He lifted her up into his arms, still grinning. "And don't worry, we'll make sure it matches your bangles too."

"You aren't going to carry me like this all day, are you?" Amoneha looked worried, she wanted to just disappear but she felt unable to escape.

"What, you'd rather hobble around on your ankle? I'm only going to carry you until we fine some nice canes. I know you hate being carried." He smirked then. "But I think we make a rather nice couple, don't you? Apparently the innkeeper thinks so!" He nodded to Luna who was staring at them dreamily, her eyes sparkling.

"Please stop..." She moved her head so her hair would cover her eyes, why couldn't she stop the tears? They were horrible and they made her eyes burn in a strange way. "Let's just go...."

Adder frowned when she turned her face from him, but he didn't say anything more on the subject. He walked into the market with her and after a few minutes of silence, he pointed out a shop. "There! They have canes it looks like! Maybe we'll be able to find a nice one!"

Amoneha felt a little bit of a stab in her stomach when he didn't say anything else after she turned her head. She'd expected him to keep jabbing, but maybe she'd hurt his feelings. The shop was very quaint and seemed to have some really pretty things, she wasn't sure how much money she had on her though.

"Good mornin'!" A man called, "How can I help ya?"

"I need a cane..." Amoneha said nervously. Then she gasped as her eyes flashed red, "You aren't an honest man. If you make me overpay for anything I will know."

The man's eyes were wide and he stared at Adder who just grinned mischievously. "How about a discount for the poor, injured travelers?" He carried her slowly around the little shop and stopped at a cane that he thought was rather pretty. "What about this one?" It was red with golden details- vines and flowers growing up the shaft.

"I love it, but how much...?" Amoneha's eyes didn't change back from red, she was still studying the shop keeper as if he was going to try and swindle her.

"T-Twenty gold coins!" He stammered. "I bought it for fifteen, but I have to make a profit!" His eyes were wide and he looked to Adder for help who was just grinning mischievously.

"No! You will sell it to me for the right price, I can't afford your five extra coins! I believe I will do my business elsewhere." Amoneha pointed to the door.

The man's eyes were full of fear and he shook his head. "P-Please? How about I sell it to you for eighteen coins? Please, I need to make some kind of profit!"

Adder sighed and set Amon down for a moment, making sure to help her stand to keep her foot off of the ground. "I'll buy it." He said, pulling the coins out of his bag and giving them to the man. "But you will sell it to me for fifteen pieces. I've seen this cane elsewhere at a price of ten."

Amoneha's eyes faded to green but her brows still furrowed, "You won't make a profit being dishonest." She took the cane, once Adder had purchased it. "Thank you, Adder! Let's go and not pay anymore mind to this foolish man!"

Adder grinned mischievously back to the startled man and followed Amon out of the shop. "That cane really suits you." He commented truthfully. "I know you won't have it for forever, but it looks nice."

"It depends, if we have to continue traveling, my ankle will never have real time to heal... I may continue to use this cane." Amoneha tried not to put any real pressure on her ankle, but that was still challenging. "Thank you though."

"Well, I don't mind carrying you." Adder stopped at another shop which sold clothes. He really needed some, he was already beginning to get cold again.

"I don't want you to fall again... I'll go in with you and make sure you don't get swindled." Amoneha limped in to the shop and sat down on a bench at the opening while she waited for him to find some clothes.

Adder laughed at that and picked up a few random pieces of clothing that seemed to be the cheapest. The tunic was a dark green, and the breeches were a light brown. The cloak was a simple dark grey, meant only to keep him warm in the cold.

"That will be sixty gold pieces sir."

"S-Sixty?" Adder's eyes widened in surprise. That didn't seem to add up. What was with this town?

"He's lying!" Amoneha's eyes were red as she got up and checked the clothes, "Are you sure you really want to sell that to him at such a heavy price? Or should I just tell your wife over there that you are seeing the young tailor next door?"
